Wenger wanted 'killer' Costa

Arsene Wenger admits he was interested in buying prolific Chelsea striker Diego Costa this summer.Arsenal face the Blues and Costa - scorer of eight goals in his first six Premier League appearances - this Sunday at Stamford Bridge, with Wenger open about his admiration for the Spanish international who cost £32m from Atletico Madrid.
When asked whether he wanted to bring Costa to the Gunners, Wenger said: "Yes, but that was a deal that was struck early.
"Costa has done fantastically well, I must say. I am impressed by how well he has done.
"He has all the aspects of a striker that I like. He is focused, always determined and ready for a fight.
"He has players like Cesc [Fabregas] who can always find him. He is a very efficient player, the timing of his runs and killing determination. You feel this guy is a killer and he has that in him."
Wenger also insists he has no regrets about not re-signing Fabregas despite his excellent start to the season at Chelsea.
“No, because when he left we signed [Mesut] Ozil to bring in an attacking player," Wenger said.
"We have Cazorla, Wilshere, Ramsey, and Chamberlain. They are all attacking players. We were not in need of buying attacking players.
"It makes sense if you look at the balance of the team. I think that is a decision which is easy to understand."
