“I need Em or one of those n—as,” Mook said name-dropping Eminem during an interview with Hot 97 personalities Ebro Darden and DJ Kast One on Thursday. “I’ve been saying Em from the door. For the last five years I’ve been saying, ‘Y’all have to go get Eminem for me. You have to.’”
Eminem’s Shady Records backed the “Total Slaughter” battle and it’s a perfect fit considering that the “8 Mile” MC got his start in the battle circuit. Normally, established rappers who sell millions of records don’t step into the battle arena, but Joe Budden bucked the trend when he stepped up to Hollow da Don during the event. Though Budden lost, he opened up a lane for star rappers to test their skills.
“Em is my favorite rap dude. It’s no disrespect at all. This is just admiration, want to jump in the ring with a n—a that I feel like is incredible. Somebody I feel says things I would never possibly think of saying. I can’t say,” Mook said. “His mind is way different, so for me to have to challenge myself to be able to try and meet that and take it higher.”
