Newly-appointed Young Africans Brazilian head coach Marcio Maximo
landed at JNIA at around 01:50 and was greeted outside the Airport by
Yanga officials including the club’s spokesman Baraka Kizuguto.Hundreds of Yanga fans gathered at the Airport to welcome the Brazilian and screams erupted when he appeared through the VIP lounge. The frenzy crowd of supporters sang Maximo’s name, eulogizing the charismatic trainer who was smiling from ear to ear, vividly excited to be back in a country he once declared to be in love with. He received huge cheers from the passionate crowd of Yanga supporters when he greeted them in local language ‘mambo vipi?’ meaning how are the things? And the whole crowd replied ‘poa,’ meaning ‘fine.’
Maximo expressed his delight to return to the country. The former national soccer team ‘Taifa Stars’ head coach refused to talk much, saying he will hold a press conference, when he is expected to speak in details about his much-publicized return to the country to take charge of the Jangwani Street-based outfit.
“I am very happy to be back in Tanzania, I have nothing to explain right now, I will speak tomorrow, we will have a press conference,” Maximo told Goal at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.
Maximo is expected to sign a two-year deal with Yanga, concluding a long drawn- out pursuit of his services by the former Premier League champions.
