At least one American, named Quinn Lucas Schansman, was confirmed to be on the Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 that crashed on Thursday. The top HIV/AIDS experts
attending the International AIDS conference were on board the flight as
well. A graduate student at the University of Indiana was also on
board. Before the flight, one Dutch passenger, Cor Pan, posted a
Facebook photo with an ominous caption: “should it disappear, this is
what it looks like.”
